Alliance Music Therapy welcomed Will to our team as our first student intern in the fall of 2025 and he later joined our team officially in June of 2026.  He joins us from the University of Minnesota where he completed his Master's in Music Therapy training to become a Board-Certified Music Therapist.  Additionally, Will has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Education from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College.  Keep reading below to learn more about Will.

 

Will's love of music and working with people was sparked as a kid, especially singing.  He did theatre as a kid until middle school and always wanted to expand his singing skills.  As he completed his general education, he saw a flyer in his college advisor room about Psychology and the different career paths a degree in the program could lead to.  Being a therapist was another interest of Wills and seeing the flyer inspired him to pursue that path.  After graduating with his undergrad in Psychology and taking a break from school, his singing teacher told him about Music Therapy and it was the perfect bridge of his desires!

Two things that excite Will about being part of the AMT team are his ability to work with a wide variety of individuals and the opportunity to learn from the wonderful people who work for Alliance in their respective environments.  Will is currently working with children, teens, and adults with neurological and developmental disabilities, in mental health symptom management, and in supporting quality of life and rehabilitation for individuals with a medically fragile condition.

In Will's free time, he loves to spend time with his husband, dog, cat, and friends.  He's a big foodie guy, so he loves trying new places to eat, as well as napping.
