Take us back to the beginning. What sparked your love for music and working with people?

I loved music as a kid, especially singing. I did theatre as a kid until middle school and always wanted to expand my singing skills. I was finally able to do singing lessons when I was 19 years old, around the time I entered the world of higher education. As I completed my general education, I saw a flyer in my college advisor room about Psychology and the different career paths a degree in the program could lead to. Being a therapist was another interest of mine and seeing the flyer inspired me to pursue that path. After graduating with my undergrad in Psychology, and taking a break from school, my own singing teacher told me about Music Therapy and it was the perfect bridge of my desires!

What excites you about being part of the team at Alliance Music Therapy?

There are two things that excite me. The ability to work with a wide variety of individuals and the opportunity to learn from the wonderful people who work for Alliance in their respective environments. Being an intern and soon-to-be graduate of the music therapy program, learning is at the forefront of what I do. Being able to meet different people and different levels of needs is an enriching process for me to become the best therapist I can be. Alliance has a great team of people with diverse experiences, so the opportunity to learn with them and the clients we work with along the way has been wonderful.

Things you enjoy outside of your internship?

Things I love to do outside of the internship is spend time with my husband, dog, cat, and my friends. Big foodie guy, so love trying new places as well as napping. Shout  out to my bed. You're my happiest hello and hardest goodbye everyday #Alwaysonmymind.

Will is absolutely amazing to be around and an even more amazing music therapist [music therapy intern]. Especially when he matches my random energy and bursts into song with me..
