       Sara       Goodrum

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Independent Contractor

BS, CTRS

Sara joined the Alliance Music Therapy team to help us innovate healthcare and to bring Recreation Therapy services to individuals in their homes - the first of its kind here in Minnesota!

Sara graduated from St. Cloud State University with a major in Recreation and Community Health and a minor in Therapeutic Recreation, ultimately leading to her certification in Recreation Therapy (CTRS).  With a master’s certificate in Environmental Education, Sara has been certified as a Master Naturalist.  Furthermore, she is part of the 1% of Recreation Therapists that is certified through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) in the behavioral health speciality!

Sara joined the Alliance Music Therapy team in November of 2025 as an independent contractor to assist in furthering our team’s reach and expand the populations we provide services for.  She is most excited for the opportunity and ability to practice the skills that she learned wholeheartedly in becoming a recreation therapist. Being able to work one to one with people, meet them where they are, and work with them to reach goals in where they want to be and doing so in fun and creative ways.

With her passion for staying active, being creative, and connecting with others, she knew early on that recreation therapy was the perfect fit for her.  She strives each day—whether in a therapy session or in everyday interactions—to brighten someone's day and make a positive impact.  Her philosophy is simple: Pursue what brings you joy, embrace opportunities that align with who you want to become, and don't be afraid to go after the life you envision.  By seeking out fun, purpose, and meaningful experiences, she encourages others to live fully and wholeheartedly.

In her free time he enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, walking her dog, exploring new nature areas, and camping in her Scamp! She also runs and owns a coffee shop with her friend!

I appreciate how recreational therapist Sara Goodrun individualizes her approach to meet my son where he is. She shows up weekly in her adorable overalls ready to play, try something new, and reinforce skills. She has an array of cool sensory toys, lively puppets, and most importantly a kind and accepting attitude towards my son's quirks and his autism.- Client's Parent
